Leeds Middle School Library Media Center The Leeds Middle School Library Media Center supplies educational materials that supplement and strengthen the curriculum. The staff's goal is the prepare students for life-long learning, instill a love of reading, and teach the ability to find, use, and evaluate information effectively. Check Out Policies Students may check out two books at a time. They may keep the items for two weeks and renew the books for up to two more weeks if needed. Fines for overdue books are 5 cents per day up to $1.00 per book. Students who lose or damage books beyond repair will be charged the replacement cost of the book. General Rules Students may come to the library at any time to read, research, check out and/or return materials provided they have a pass from their teacher to enter the media center. Students must not take materials from the library without checking them out. Students who are disruptive in the media center will be sent back to class. Students need to bring needed materials to the library.
Computer Station Students are encouraged to use the computer in the library to aid their research for classroom assignments. We have Internet access and basic programs for word processing. Students and parents must sign an Acceptable Use Policy, found in the student handbook, and Internet Use Agreement in order to use the Internet at LMS. Students must sign in on the computer log and are monitored while using the computers. Students who abuse the use the computer will lose privileges and will be disciplined according to policy. Students are not to change any settings on the computer or download and install software or other materials. Attention Parents: Please save old cell phones, used inkjet cartridges, and laser cartridges to give to the library. by recycling these items, the library raises money to purchase books and materials for the media center.
